There is still time between today and tomorrow to find flights available to return to Nairobi or vice versa, from early afternoon on Monday 29, in fact, by decision of the Kenya Civil Airport Authority (KCAA) all domestic flights will be cancelled until a date to be determined, as a side effect of the Government's decisions to close Nairobi County and the 4 neighbouring counties.
All flights by airlines that operate only domestic flights, including Kenya Airways' subsidiary, namely Jambojet, are cancelled.
As the Ministry of Tourism statement reads, anyone arriving from abroad in Nairobi after that date will have to stay within the capital or the other 4 counties affected by the lockdown restrictions, until the decree ends.
As for safaris in the Maasai Mara, these can be guaranteed as long as the areas visited are in Kajiado County.
The routes to Mombasa, Malindi, Lamu, Ukunda, Kisumu, Eldoret and also tourist flights to minor destinations are therefore cancelled. Airport transit will be allowed if you do not change terminals, i.e. to transfer from Nairobi to another foreign destination, such as Mauritius or South Africa for example.
