Gambero Rosso takes its 'glasses of wine' to Kenya

Italy's leading wine and food media company in Nairobi on 30 January

Nairobi and Kenya have been included for the first time in the prestigious Gambero Rosso world circuit.
This was announced by the same multimedia brand of the wine and food world, announcing its return to the African continent with its 'Top Italian Wine Roadshow', to be held on 30 January next, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and with the support of the Italian Trade Agency.
An invitation-only event will be held in the Kenyan capital with an 'interactive' and itinerant tasting of 35 wineries from all over Italy, representing fifteen regions, for more than 150 wines of excellence including whites, reds, rosés, and sparkling wines, some of which have already been awarded by Gambero Rosso with its famous 'bicchieri'.

An opportunity to introduce Kenyans and food and wine operators to the different terroirs and appellations of Italian wines in a convivial atmosphere and with the possibility of meeting their producers.
During the day, which will be held in the events space of the Shamba Café in Loresho, Nairobi, in addition to tastings and getting to know the wineries, for interested guests there will be two masterclasses presented by the senior editor of the guide Vini d'Italia, one of the leading experts on Italian wine, Marco Sabellico, with the best-known Kenyan sommelier, Victoria Mulu-Munywoki, defined as the 'true voice of wine in Kenya'.

Later in the day there will be other surprises including the best Italian restaurants in the country.
Italian wine is increasingly popular in Kenya, as Ambassador Roberto Natali recalled when presenting the latest edition of the Italian Cuisine Week in Kenya last November. Imports of wine into the country have increased, and at the same time awareness of its quality and why it comes to a product that combines the experience, tradition and 'artisan' culture of winemaking, as well as the necessary marketing to propose one of the gems of Made in Italy in the world.

All this is absolutely in line with the philosophy of Gambero Rosso, which has always appreciated and promoted large wineries and small artisan cooperatives in the same way.
"We do not like wine parties and alignments," explain the well-known guide, which represents the most important Italian brand with 37 years of activity behind it. "Our lay approach takes us among world-famous oenologists, but also among realities that make us suffer because they do not even have a website.
Nairobi this year has been included in a tour of some 40 events abroad, with masterclasses in English, German, Chinese and Japanese.
