Kenya elections: advice and dedicated Embassy number

Important to register with "Where we are in the world"

The Embassy of Italy in Kenya, in view of the general elections in Kenya, has set up a special number for the benefit of compatriots to contact in case of any emergencies: +254 706 622 575 active 24 hours a day.
As also reported by the website of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs in recent updates, it is advisable to follow the recommendations for residents and tourists who will be in Kenya in the days before and after Tuesday 9 August.
"On that occasion," the Embassy reminds us, "especially in connection with and following the announcement of the results, possible demonstrations and protests accompanied by episodes of violence cannot be ruled out, although so far the situation in this regard has been substantially calm.
It is therefore recommended, as a precautionary measure, to avoid demonstrations and places of gathering, to maintain a high level of attention when travelling, limiting it to those that are actually necessary, and to avoid, as far as possible, using public transport, especially at night.
It is also advisable to keep abreast of developments in the situation by monitoring the media and following the instructions of the local authorities.
A good habit, at any time of the year and particularly in correspondence with events that have brought some problems for travellers in the past, is to subscribe to the website and app of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' "where we are in the world" service.
It is very simple and in the event of any mishap could prove decisive. Just go to https://www.dovesiamonelmondo.it/home.html and follow the directions.
