The peak tourist season has just ended, and the onslaught on the next one has already begun, with the usual consequences that make Kenyans and those working in tourism rub their hands together, and make travellers nervous. On online agency terminals and airline websites, flight prices have already skyrocketed, if not skyrocketed, to the African low sky, but the trend is obviously upwards.
That's why the seasoned 'aficionados', the 'Africa-sick' and those who like to plan their holidays in advance without leaving anything to chance, have already booked not only tickets, but also accommodation and safaris even for January and February 2025.

Unfortunately, as we explained in the last update, there will be no new flights or new airlines added, at the behest of the Kenyan government, which is trying to enhance the value of its national airline Kenya Airways, which in any case does not go everywhere and above all, incredibly, does not fly directly to Mombasa on international routes.
From June, Lufthansa and its charter company, Eurowings, will be stepping up weekly flights to Mombasa, but even then Italians will have to travel to Germany first and the prices are not so convenient.
That still leaves the Nairobi-Malindi hypothesis, for those staying on the north coast, between Watamu, Malindi and Mambrui. With the intertwining of connections and the inevitable waiting, if not overnight stays (other expenses).

And yet, the fantastic thing is that Kenya always attracts more and more: according to the Ministry of Tourism, which released figures for 2023 with a 40% increase over the previous year, in 2024 there will be an all-time record, with a projection of 2.2 million foreign tourists in the country. If safaris in the savannah and Americans continue to take the lion's share, among the Big 5 (to stay on the subject) Italy is back. A sign that there are those who, being able to move in good time, still manage to find good opportunities and that in the end, minus the cost of the ticket, those who know how to be content and expect a bit of healthy adventure will come. With the always good news that young people are becoming enthusiastic about Kenya's many attractions, possibilities and nuances: the general increase in western tourists is matched by that of stays in regions and localities that were once known and frequented by a few 'connoisseurs', such as Nanyuki, on the slopes of Mount Kenya, increasingly popular with mountaineering enthusiasts, Lake Victoria (also as a stopover to the forests of Uganda to see the gorillas) and the Eldoret heights, in the lands and breathtaking landscapes of the great marathon runners. It will be a Kenya to be experienced, in the second half of 2024, and to be booked as soon as possible!
