New restriction if Covid-19 in Kenya not fading

"Lockdown final option for the good of the country"

The percentages are always high and according to the national media, Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe is considering asking President Kenyatta to return to more appropriate restrictive measures to contain the pandemic, such as a new lockdown. A meeting in this sense, as reported by sources inside the Ministry, would be scheduled for today.
There is still no air of closure, at least to hear the words of the Director General of Health and WHO man for Kenya Patrick Amoth, but it is an option that the Government is beginning to consider if the numbers but especially the percentages continue to rise.
"Returning to stricter restrictions is certainly an option, as President Kenyatta said through his Twitter profile - the Ministry of Health has a duty to ensure that we remain a healthy nation. If we were to see a surge, then it would be our last option for the good of the country".
According to Amoth one cannot speak of a "second wave" in Kenya, because the country thought with the reopening that it was back to normal, although the government continued to say that Covid-19 was still present and defeated.
Meanwhile yesterday the country recorded 616 positive cases of Covid-19 in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 44,196. The swabs analyzed were 5512, so the percentage is eleven percent, up one percentage point from the previous two days.
Of the cases, 594 are Kenyan and 22 are foreign, while 391 are male and 225 female. The youngest is an 8-month-old baby, while the oldest is 86 years old.
The distribution of cases by county is as follows: Nairobi 121, Nakuru 110, Uasin Gishu 74, Mombasa 55, Kakamega 32, Kericho 29, Kisumu 26, Bungoma 21, Garissa 20, Turkana 16, Kiambu 13, Homa Bay 10, Kajiado 10, Kisii 10, Laikipia 9, Busia 8, Isiolo 6, West Pokot 6, Murang'a 6.
On Saturday 17 October 104 patients were healed, 83 from the home care programme, while 21 were discharged from various hospitals. The total number of healings is now 31,752.
Unfortunately, during the same period 12 people succumbed to the disease, bringing the number of deaths to 825.
