An official press release from a government agency was awaited, the kind that does not give rise to any interpretation and that should nip in the bud all attempts to profit from it (even if the ways of corruption are definitely superior to those of any Lord...).
And the statement came, from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, the state's aviation arm.
"All passengers arriving in Kenya will be required to show a certificate of vaccination," says the statement, "children under 18 years of age are exempt from presenting this certificate.
The statement also updates the criteria for admission to the country in light of the proliferation of the new Omicron variant, expanding the list of countries of origin from which travelers must undergo mandatory quarantine upon arrival in Kenya: for now, these are only African nations (South Africa, Eswatini, Zambia, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Ghana, Mozambique and Nigeria).
In the release, it is also confirmed that the outgoing PCR swab from Kenya would not be mandatory, but depends on the request of the airlines used and the requirements of the country of origin. The incoming one must always be valid, i.e. done not more than 96 hours before arrival in Kenya.
In fact, the Government with this statement has decided to ignore the request for suspension of prevention activities related to the vaccine pending the hearing on January 4, 2022. Now the ball passes to the High Court that, however, between Christmas vacations and viewings, is unlikely to pronounce by that date.
