TRAVEL

Called the "Travel Pass", it will in fact be the already ballyhooed digital health passport that, thanks to an app developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to which all the world's airlines will adhere, will be downloaded onto mobile phones and will allow international travellers to move around safely.
What appears to be the best solution to get passengers flying again and airlines recovering from the worst crisis ever experienced, will be implemented within three months.
The news has been announced by IATA itself, which has explained in recent days the procedures through which it will help travellers to manage their journeys easily and safely, in line with government requirements for Covid-19 tests or information on vaccines received, and will allow the reopening of borders still closed and above all the abolition of mandatory quarantine in international travel.
The App is still being finalised, the ultimate goal being to provide everyone with an online health certificate combined with a global certification system that works everywhere and is shared by airlines and governments.
The app will also contain all the information travellers need, from entry restrictions imposed by the country of destination to the list of accredited laboratories where swabs can be taken in the country of departure.
It will also contain electronic copies of passports and airline tickets to speed up check-in and boarding. Similarly, it will collect all the passenger's medical information, from the result of the last covid-19 tests carried out to any vaccination. The data will be sent to the app directly by the health authorities or specialised laboratories, so as to guarantee its veracity. The airport authorities in turn will have access via a Qr Code.
As soon as it is available, the app will be available to download from Apple and Android stores, free for travellers and governments, while airlines will pay a small fee for each passenger who uses it.
