From today, Tuesday, March 1, officially you can go from Italy to non-European countries for tourism, subject to compliance with the rules of the countries of destination, and also do the reverse route without having to perform quarantine, arrive with PCR buffer or having to comply with the restrictions that were provided by previous orders of the Ministry of Health.
So the green light to tourism for the countries of the list E, which includes Kenya, for all those who are in possession of green pass from vaccinations, without having to present the special reasons that were part of the exceptions until February 28, 2022 and without performing quarantine on return.
This is the excellent news that we have been waiting for and that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed, referring to the publication in the Official Gazette, and that already today we will probably see appear clearly on the site viaggiaresicuri.it.
This is great news for the Kenyan tourism sector that, after two years of restrictions and problems, can breathe again and, above all, plan ahead, while waiting for the organization of direct, charter and scheduled flights scheduled for June and July, which we will update you on in the coming days.
The other good news is represented by the reopening of Italy to Kenyan citizens who want to travel to Italy for tourism. From today they can do so, obviously by applying for a visa at our Embassy in Nairobi and respecting the rules of Italy on arrival, which are now practically restricted to the presentation of double vaccination with vaccines recognized by the EMA plus Covishield (Serum Institute of India), produced under license by AstraZeneca, R-CoVI (R-Pharm), produced under license by AstraZeneca or Covid-19 vaccine-recombinant (Fiocruz), produced under license by AstraZeneca.
Only a few outstanding points remain, which do not however concern the Italian government and its regulations on non-European travel. This is especially the case of the Green Pass to be uploaded on the globalhaven.it portal for Italian tourists leaving Italy for Kenya. For now, the portal does not accept green passes from healing, but only vaccination certificates linked to it with the relevant dates. The Embassy of Kenya in Rome recommends, in the only case in which the green pass from healing is not older than 90 days, to translate it into English and still present at the airport with the paper. We at malindikenya.net personally do not feel like giving this as a certain solution and we always advise you to contact the airlines, in case.
The problem is not so much leaving but how you could be received in Nairobi and Mombasa.
The globalhaven.org portal has been adopted precisely to simplify entry operations and also to prevent possible incidents of inconsistency in the application of rules and possibly even corruption.
In any case, many players in the Italian tourism sector in Africa and also the International Air Transport Association (IATA) are in contact with globalhaven to try to solve the problem, just as we and the tourism and tour operator businessmen are pushing with the airlines to eliminate the outbound buffer for those in possession of vaccination certificates.
