One can promote a destination, its culture and traditions by inviting people to discover them, also through music. With this intention, one of the most important festivals of pan-African arts and culture, FESTAC, founded in 1966 in Senegal and since then touring in many countries of the continent, invites groups from every country and this year, for the edition to be held in Arusha, Tanzania, from 21 to 27 May, an artist from Malindi, Katoi Wa Tabaka with his Mijikenda Jazz Band, has been invited.
"We are thrilled to announce that FESTAC AFRICA 2023 will be held in Arusha, Tanzania, from 21 to 27 May 2023," announce the organisers, in the invitation letter delivered to Katoi, "and it promises to be full of energy. The theme is 'Sustaining and preserving African culture, promoting intra-African travel and tourism in an eco-friendly way, and telling our stories, our way!'
With a focus on sustainability, many companies, also in the field of tourism, will converge in a 3-day summit to discuss solutions and offer training. The Africa Investment Forum, led by the African Tourism Board, will see delegates come together to
discuss intra-African travel, how to promote tourism in Africa and explore investment opportunities.
Then, it's off to the party with artists and groups from every country. The Festival in fact, after a 45-year stop after a historic edition in Nigeria in 1977, resumed last year in Zanzibar and was a great success.
For this reason, Katoi is expressly asking those who care about Malindi and want to promote the destination through their participation in the Festival, to help with travel and accommodation expenses, in short, they are looking for 'sponsors'.
