Increasing swabs on the coast, but only one case recorded in the last 24 hours.
It is a fact: for now, despite the lowest temperatures of the year, the Covid-19 on the Indian Ocean is not devastating. If it is true as it is true that in the face of 369 deaths in the country (yesterday another five, after the sad binge last Saturday, 23) apart from the old town of Mombasa there has not been a single one in any seaside tourist destination, it is equally verifiable that the hospital dedicated to the Covid-19 does not have a single patient admitted to intensive care. In addition, the swabs analyzed on behalf of the many hotels that have obtained licenses to reopen these days, have not reported a single case.
With regard to Kenya, which two days ago reopened its borders and always travels on an average positive per swab of 11%, comma plus comma minus, the cases of yesterday Sunday, August 2 transmitted in the daily bulletin of the Ministry of Health were 690 out of 5393 and brought the total national contagions to 22,053.
It is still Nairobi, which recorded 535 cases plus about sixty in the province, the concrete outbreak, while the other few cases were recorded on the border with Uganda and Tanzania, with the exception of 24 positive cases in Nyeri in the very cold (in this period) area of Mount Kenya.
On the other hand, 58 patients were discharged from hospital facilities, bringing the total number to 8477.
The Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Rashid Abdì Aman, warned that we may be near the peak. Also because in a few weeks the temperatures could rise little by little.
These days many citizens from Nairobi and the north of the country are moving to the coast just to escape the cold and enjoy the August holidays. The controls in the hotels are tight, not only to respect the government protocol (on pain of indefinite suspension of licenses) but above all not to be infected first in the facilities.
"The virus can only be stopped this way, there are no others," confirmed Abdi Aman.
