INCONTRI ITALIANI
09-10-2025 by redazione
The ‘Incontritaliani’ series continues on Thursday 30 October with a monthly event for Italians in Nairobi, organised by Malindikenya.net in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi and the Enoteca and La Dolce Vita venues.
The meetings will always take place on Thursdays (in this case not in the middle of the month to make way for Italian Language Week in the world) and are at the same time a literary review, a way to get to know some fellow countrymen who deserve it, their ideas and their passions, and above all to get to know other Italians living in Kenya.
The first evening was already sold out last September with the presentation of Esmeralda Lovatelli's book “Io sono tutte loro” (I am all of them), so we recommend booking as soon as possible for the next one, according to the instructions below.
Seating for the event and aperitif is limited, so priority will be given to those who pay in advance after booking, following the Enoteca's instructions.
The events will continue throughout the season, but we also combine words with our own pleasure, that of good wine and good food. That is why our collaboration has made use of two Italian businesses that are close to each other and complement each other in a pleasant and peaceful garden: Enoteca and La Dolce Vita at Muthaiga Mall.
For each of the evenings, the formula is simple: from 6.30 p.m., aperitif in the Enoteca space, with wine tasting and appetisers, followed by a meeting with the guest of the day who will present a book in Italian or something else (Kes. 1500 including entertainment).
Finally, for those who wish to continue the Italian atmosphere of sharing, there is the option of dining in the adjacent La Dolce Vita restaurant, where the Italian chef will prepare a special tasting menu at a unique price for the occasion (Kes. 2500, drinks not included), but at the same time, you can also book just for a pizza, a first course or a second course.

The star of the evening on 30 October is writer Luca Catalano, who will present the graphic novel published together with illustrator Michele De Santis, “Lumumba, Eroe Africano” (Lumumba, African Hero), on the life of the father of Congolese independence.
Catalano has been living in Nairobi for a few months, after spending several years in Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo with the German development cooperation agency GIZ. Talking to him are the director of the Italian Cultural Institute, Elena Gallenca, and Freddie del Curatolo.
And it will be the “factotum” of Italian culture, information and memory in Kenya who will be the protagonist of the November meeting on Thursday 13th, with the presentation “in his own way”, between poetry and cabaret, of his latest books, “Nairobi” and “Ti immagini l'Africa” (Can you imagine Africa?).
In December, on Thursday 11th, the focus will be on Africa and poetry, with Gianfranco Morino, doctor and one of the founders of Neema Hospital, an award-winning healthcare facility with social relevance. He will be joined by Valeria Buoninfante and the ever-present Freddie to present his collection of poems.
Other equally interesting events are already in the pipeline for 2026, and anyone interested in presenting their artistic and cultural side, a book, an exhibition, a show or anything else, can write to info@malindikenya.net.
