04-02-2025 by redazione

The Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi, cultural office of the Italian Embassy in Kenya, in collaboration with National Museums of Kenya, will for the first time bring live classical music to the enchanting and evocative setting of the Gede historical site, the UNESCO world heritage site between Malindi and Watamu.
Inside the protected archeological area and the museum of the same name, which preserves the memory of one of the oldest known Arab settlements on the Kenyan coast, the Enkare String Quartet, one of Kenya's most renowned string quartets, will perform on Saturday 15 February at 5.45 pm.

With over a decade of collective experience, the Enkare String Quartet performs in a variety of genres, ranging from classical to contemporary music, and is driven by an open and collaborative approach to music-making.

Members of the quartet play both nationally and internationally and regularly participate in Cellobration and the Nairobi Orchestra in Kenya, the Dar Choral Society in Tanzania, the BISYOC Intercultural Youth Orchestra & Amadeus Orchestra in the UK, The Cello Ensemble Freude, The Dalminer Orchestra & The Orchestra of Pavia in Italy and the Seoul International Community Orchestra in South Korea.

For this unique and evocative event, entitled 'Italian Classical Music. Live Concert Under the Light of Gede Ruins ‘ the Enkare String Quartet will perform a vast repertoire based on the most famous Italian composers. The event is free of charge, but to participate you must register by sending an e-mail to iicnairobi@esteri.it.
