Worst defects of italians for kenyans

Malindikenya.net survey on the coast

08-09-2019 by Freddie del Curatolo

Malindikenya.net asked a sample of Kenyan citizens of the coast, divided into social groups, age and origin (ryramas, Swahili, Indians, Arabs, North Kenyans transferred to the coast) what they really thought of Italians, beyond the classic statements of facade (they are nice, good, the best Europeans etc ...) with a specific question: what are their main defects.
Here is the classification that came out of it.

IMPATIENTS: According to the inhabitants of Malindi, Watamu and other coastal towns where the Italian presence is impressive, our fellow countrymen are always in a hurry to get anything, especially if they have to obtain it from a kenyan. Very few, unlike the British for example, have become accustomed to African "pole pole", even if they have lived in Kenya for some time. Imagine the ones that just arrived. It's hard to see an Italian indifferent to the delivery time of a job, or to those waiting for a lunch at a restaurant. And then praise the quiet and relaxing life of living on the equator, compared to the Italian stress.

ZERO IN LANGUAGES: One in ten Italians manages to express himself decently in a language that is not his own. This seems incredible because for decades now English has been the language of reference in the world. Europeans of every other nation speak it almost as if they were native speakers, Italians still stumble and make a mute scene. Not to mention those of a certain age, who scream in Italian to hope that a Kenyan will understand them better. It might be easier to learn Kiswahili, which sounds like Italian, but according to Kenyans we "aren't really fit".

UNWISE: Since the Italians have been in Malindi and Watamu, the law firms have increased tenfold and perhaps even more. Because, according to those who live here, we're messed up and a bit of a bumblebee. We believe we can "fool" our neighbor or at least do our best and then we find a fellow countryman just like us, or a Kenyan who takes advantage of it, letting us believe that we have the situation in hand. And so we regularly end up suing or suffering someone. Not to mention the sentimental situations...

INCOHERENTS: According to those who saw us arrive and met us in Kenya, Italians, unlike other peoples, tend to schizophrenia: they are able to fall in love with everything after a short time, people situations activities nature etc. ... and then with the same passion hate the same things, talk badly and complain about everything that seemed to be the reason for their stay in Kenya.

SMUGGLERS: Many of the interviewees are certain of one thing: it's no coincidence that Italians have chosen a country like Kenya where corruption is so rooted in society. According to Kenyans almost all the "wazungu" coming from the "Belpaese" are inclined to always look for an alternative way to do things well: from taxes to shortcomings to enjoy any benefit. "But can't you do it another way?" It's the ritual question. The classic excuse is "if you don't do this with them, you don't get anything".

Next time is for the virtues...
