SUBSCRIPTIONS 2026
12-01-2026 by Freddie del Curatolo
For eighteen years, the real strength of malindikenya.net has not been a benevolent algorithm, an enlightened publisher, or a secret financier with a passion for Africa.
It is the readers.
Period.
Without you, this work would truly be a solipsistic exercise by a bored baboon, intent on swinging through the vines of the Arabuko Sokoke Forest, convinced he is philosophizing when in reality he is only talking to himself.
Malindikenya.net, as you well know, has never been a site with a lock on the door.
No “subscribe to continue reading,” no articles cut off halfway through like an episode of a series canceled at its peak.
Here, first we provide a service, we tell stories, we inform, we try to explain Kenya—for better or worse—and only when it is really necessary do we ask for a hand. A small one, free, without moral obligations or built-in guilt.
Because this site is not just a voluntary, daily information service. It is also a point of reference for the Italian community, an informal support for institutions, and a repository of social activities that have been going on behind the scenes for years, without press releases or medals pinned to our chests.
This year, with the 2026 support campaign, I did what I always do: I asked for help with modesty and a certain embarrassment, knowing full well that 10 or 20 euros will not change the world, but they say much more than they seem. They say: “I read you,” “I follow you,” “your work is useful to someone other than just you.”
A week after the launch of the campaign, I want to publicly thank—by name—those who responded immediately. Those who didn't wait. Those who didn't ask for anything in return. I know you didn't do it for visibility, and that's why I think it's only right to name you: because you were the first to demonstrate, in practice, that this space still has a reason to exist.
Marco, Hamza, Luca, Roberta, Annamaria, Pietro, Esmeralda, Franco B., Elena, Stefania, Ann, Mariola, Franco E.,Diana, Marina, Marta, Gianfranco, Luigi, Franca Donin, Samuele, Giorgio, Alice, Giampiero, Alessandra, James, Lucy, Ilaria, Michela, Sheila, Michele, Gianpaolo.
And thanks to the sponsors who have already renewed their membership for the coming year: JACARANDA, PAPAREMO/SEVEN ISLAND, CAFFE' AND MORE, VINYASA.
Our thanks are not just formal.
They are genuine, heartfelt, without embellishment.
They come from those who know that, without these gestures, our daily work risks becoming increasingly fragile, increasingly precarious, increasingly dependent on good fortune.
And our thanks also extend to those who have not yet contributed. To those who were distracted, busy, traveling, on vacation, or simply waiting for the right moment. The doors remain open, as always. No rush, no pressure. Here, we don't chase after anyone: we walk together, when we can.
Malindikenya.net will continue to do what it has always done: tell the story of Kenya without glitter, without brochures, without tamed stories. With irony, disenchantment, some discouragement, and a lot of honesty.
If all this has been possible for eighteen years, it is only thanks to you.
And if it continues, it will be for the same reason once again.
Thank you. Really.
