SPORT AND SOLIDARITY

There are so many examples of positivity, beauty, resilience and a sense of family within the world of the football academy founded by Malindikenya in 2009, which today stands on its own two feet organisationally but still needs our – and, above all, your – support.
Real Malindi not only lifts boys and girls out of poverty and away from the perils of life on the outskirts, enabling them to study, but it also acts as a natural hub. Not just for them, but also for those who support them and help us.
Because it so often happens that those who come into contact with the genuine character of manager Joseph (the academy’s first graduate and now head of the project) and the Community-Based Organisation that surrounds him grow fond of the project and continue to support us.
This is the case with our friend Modesto Marra, a true ‘rafiki’ who, as someone with a passion for Africa, now follows Real Malindi as if it were his second team from his home in the Campania hinterland, and pops round to see the lads whenever he can.
This year, Modesto decided to send a new set of kits for the youngest players – the traditional red-and-blue strip, in keeping with the academy’s tradition, which began as Karibuni Genoa Malindi.
And so, ahead of an Under-14 tournament in the Malindi district – the ‘Dream Kids Africa’ tournament organised by a Japanese NGO, in which the lads will be taking part (though, as is customary and in keeping with the philosophy of youth teams, those with the best school results will start) – the youngsters were able to proudly wear the new shorts and shirts donated by the Italian supporter. They’ve brought happiness – let’s hope they bring good luck too!
We’d like to remind you that anyone wishing to support this project, in any way, can contact malindikenya.net by sending an email to info@malindikenya.net to get in touch with us.
Companies can also become social sponsors and claim tax relief on their donations through the NGO Karibuni, our charity partner.
