SOLIDARITY
21-06-2024 by redazione
As of today, anyone who cares about the fate of the most willing street children of Malindi and the surrounding area, those who, despite being born in slums and in the midst of misguided situations, through study and sport seek revenge and hope, can make their contribution directly to Real Malindi, the football academy founded by us together with the educator and football coach David Badili and managed by one of the first students of the Malindi United project, Joseph Nyababwe, who graduated thanks to us and Karibuni Odv in Human Resources Management.
The help is concrete and direct, because finally, after a long bureaucratic process, Real Malindi has become a 'Community Based Organisation' (CBO), i.e. a local organisation managed directly by the community in which it operates, of which only the Kenyan entities involved and Joseph himself are members.
We, Freddie and Leni, will be the supervisors of the strictly 'non-profit' activity (but of course Real Malindi will also have to answer for this financially and legally, submitting regular financial statements every year). Karibuni Odv, on the other hand, will continue to support the project, as it has been doing since this year.
The boys of Real Malindi, which participates in the sub-district championship of the coast (a sort of local Serie D) and is currently second in the standings, despite only fielding youngsters and students, need many things, which they can access thanks to donations: first of all, the CBO regulation provides for a physical location, therefore a small office to rent and furnish. For 40 euros a month, one can find one near the team's playing field, in Furunzi on the outskirts of Malindi.
Then there are the ordinary expenses, those of the snack after training, travelling to away matches, school fees and salaries for Joseph and coach Badili, who is so passionate about the team that he has always worked on a voluntary basis, even though he is by no means well off.
Of course those in Kenya can also help by donating directly what the boys need, for this you can contact Joseph on Tel. 0714501734
Real Malindi needs the help of all of you, to continue spreading the message that education plus sport mean life and hope in a better future, and that by studying you can kick not only the ball by joining a real team, but the misery and unhappy conditions that can lead you down the wrong path, driven by temptations and bad examples.
Here's how you can make your contribution, even a small one (with Mpesa, even a few pennies will suffice, foregoing a pizza or a beer).
MPESA: PAYBILL 522533 - ACCOUNT N°: 7879070 (the name Real Malindi CBO will appear)
