Real Malindi, a new beginning between dreams and needs

Second half of the season for the team of hope

10-08-2025 by Freddie del Curatolo

The “big boys” of our social academy, who save many young people from the streets of Malindi's poor neighborhoods through soccer, have started the second half of their championship, while the “hopes,” the younger players, return to cheer them on and dream of one day joining them.

The approach to the new category, after promotion from the district championship to the County championship (a sort of Kenyan Serie D, followed by the regional Costa championship, then Serie B and the Premier League), is proving very good, with a flattering fifth place that means they are close to the playoff zone. But there are no dreams, except those of seeing the youngest players hoping to one day be part of Real Malindi, and to do so, they know that they must above all do well at school.

Registration for the championship, the possibility of traveling to more challenging away games, and training with meals have been secured by the club's owner, Pasquale Pes of Olimpia Club, and the new sponsor, the Bahia Beach Lounge Club in Porto Cesareo, Salento, thanks to the generosity of its owner, Luca Mangialardo. As always, the volunteer organization Karibuni is providing help with studies. However, there are many unknowns, emergencies, and opportunities to expand our activities, so we will always need you, our readers, and other private sponsors. Expenses are high, and this year there have also been two serious injuries, and we wanted to create a women's team (we discuss this in another article below).

We would like to remind you that Real Malindi is a Community Based Organization (CBO), therefore a totally local entity, managed by the first captain of the team founded by Malindikenya.net, Genoa Malindi, Joseph Nyababwe, who after 15 years graduated in Human Resource Management. He is assisted by educator and coach David Badili. Anyone can help the Real Malindi project, and today you can even send something to welcome the new adventure.

Here's how you can do it:

IN KENYA: You can send a small donation to Joseph, with Mpesa, via PAYBILL 522533 – ACCOUNT N°: 7879070 (the name Real Malindi CBO will appear)

or via BANK ACCOUNT: KCB BANK – MALINDI BRANCH – A/C 1330055632 – REAL MALINDI CBO

Or directly to Joseph Nyababwe at 0714501734

IN ITALY: You can send a small contribution via PAYPAL to info@malindikenya.net (ALFREDO DEL CURATOLO)

OR TO KARIBUNI FOR MORE SUBSTANTIAL DONATIONS THAT ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE:

This is Karibuni's IBAN: IT80V0843051080000000053813

It is important to indicate the reason for payment: Real Malindi support.
