The new dream of the street kids on the outskirts of Malindi, the one that makes them study and think positively about the future, starts again today, on the Furunzi playing field.

The new sports season has begun for Real Malindi, the team that represents the tip of the iceberg (or the top of the baobab, if we want to use an African metaphor) of the football academy founded by Malindikenya.net that brings together boys and girls in difficult conditions and through sports encourages them to improve their studies, contributing to school fees.

The boys have their hopes set on one day being part of the ‘grown-ups’ team, the under 20s, who this year have the difficult task of maintaining their regional status, achieved last year with a historic promotion. This year's objective is also to set up a girls' team.

The championship registration, the possibility of travelling to the more demanding away games and the training sessions with meals have been provided by the patron Pasquale Pes of Olimpia Club and by the new sponsor, the beach club Bahia of Porto Cesareo, in Salento, thanks to the generosity of its owner, Luca Mangialardo. As always, the Karibuni volunteer organisation will take care of the study grants.

So, let the competitions begin, with the home game against Jilore United.

Remember that Real Malindi is a Community Based Organisation (CBO), and therefore a totally local organisation, managed by the first captain of the team founded by Malindikenya.net, Genoa Malindi, Joseph Nyababwe, who after 14 years has graduated in Human Resource Management.
