Our Real Malindi, the team born from a social project of Malindikenya.net and finally become an entity totally run by young Kenyans, does not stop dreaming. Thanks to the perseverance and educating skills of coach Badili and the inclusion of Joseph, the first captain of the team of disadvantaged boys in 2009 and now a graduate in human resources and manager of the team.
And so this splendid reality that takes young boys off the streets of the town's poor neighbourhoods, makes them study with the sting of being part of a real team that participates in a national championship of the Kenyan Football Federation, sustains itself with the help of organisations such as Karibuni Onlus and many friends, both Italian fans of Genoa, with which it is twinned, and friends from Malindi and Kenya, as well as readers of our portal. As we have said many times, just the fact of prioritising the growth, the sustenance and the values of these boys, is in itself a victory: but to Badili and his senior team (Under 18) this is not enough: they want to win every game and they do it with a team spirit that involves everyone, especially the younger boys, who dream of becoming like them and know that if they want to join Real Malindi they must first attend school and give their best on books.
Yesterday, Real Malindi scored a heavy victory on the field of the Mere Sharks, who followed them in the standings by just one point. A 2-0 away win in Ganda that left no room for doubt, with one goal each from John Karisa and Albert Kadenge, Mr. Badili's boys conquered the field and are launching themselves towards the dream of conquering second place, useful to face the play-offs that would allow, by winning, to be promoted in the regional championship, a sort of Kenya's C series.
Dreaming costs nothing, if anything it costs to maintain the dreams and hopes of this beautiful REALITY that was recently registered as a CBO (Community Based Organisation) and has its own administration.
