A different kind of evening of meeting, sharing and pride in being Italian in Kenya.
The occasion, in one of the Malindi ‘homes’ for our compatriots, is the celebration for the promotion of Real Malindi, the football team helped by Italians, including the great supporter and ‘honorary president’ Pasquale Pes, owner of the Olimpia Club. Precisely at the Olimpia, a dinner will be held this evening to reward and thank the team, which in addition to being a sporting team is a social project created by Malindikenya.net and its readers, together with many Genoa fans, a team of which the team's founder, journalist and writer Freddie del Curatolo, is a huge fan, whom they support with their donations.
But also many Italian residents of Malindi and tourists who frequent it, support Real Malindi!
A key contribution, finally, comes from the Karibuni Voluntary Organisation, which has been following Malindikenya.net's sports projects since 2009 and has helped cultivate this Italian pride.
This evening, from 7.30 p.m. at the Olimpia Club, with the usual à la carte menu and a few surprises from the generous owner, the very young manager Joseph Nyababwe, who graduated thanks to the Italians, will be present, together with the coach and educator Davis Badili and the most representative players of Real Malindi, who will be rewarded for the fantastic year that allowed the somewhat Italian team to be promoted to the county championship.
