Another year has gone by, and it has been a milestone year for our football academy, which takes young boys away from the temptations of the street, in one of the poorest and most degraded districts of Malindi.

The great work of Joseph, a new graduate after many years of support from us, which proved to be more than positive, was flanked by that of coach Badili, who in addition to growing with the idea of sport combined with study (because we will remember it indefinitely, if you don't do well at school you don't play in REAL MALINDI) led the senior team, which is in any case an under-20 team, to finally being promoted to the Kilifi County championship!

Big goals but also big responsibilities, and more expenses because they will start in January with school fees for the little ones, scholarships for those who will become like Joseph and decide that even if they are not future Cristiano Ronaldo, they can with a trade help their families. There are also higher expenses for the away trips of the adult team, whose example is essential for the little ones, because woe betide them if they take away the dream of one day being able to play for Real Malindi. Without dreams, it is like without education and without values, one risks succumbing to the all too easy and handy temptations of the street: alcohol, drugs, petty crime and for girls, child prostitution.

We will always be there, and our dream is to receive more support from the Italians in Kenya, because for 15 years this school of football and life should be a source of pride and commitment for everyone, making us proud of a project that every day proves to be successful and brings results.

Years ago, we were honoured by the county prefect for having reduced petty crime by 60 per cent, data in hand, in the neighbourhoods where the boys come from. This also means fewer incidents of crime in the township. But not everyone has a vision that goes beyond their own parched vegetable patch. We continue to thank Karibuni Odv, which has always supported us, Pasquale Pes of Olimpia Club, now honorary president of the club, the Genoa fans who have been loyal since the youth team was rossoblu, and the few but good readers of malindikenya.net for their essential support.

At Christmas, Pasquale sent the team the panettone cakes that matter, 16 panettone cakes that were distributed to the little ones as a special snack. To everyone's great joy.
