Yesterday the Ministry of Health announced 699, 28 less than the day before. The positives of the last 24 hours bring the total number of cases in Kenya to 25,837.
During the daily Covid-19 briefing in Kakamega County on Saturday, August 8, Minister Mutahi Kagwe announced that 7,175 samples were analyzed during the same period, bringing the total number of samples analyzed so far to almost 350,000.
Of the cases reported, 427 are male and 272 are female, while the youngest case is a 1-year-old boy and the oldest is 85 years old.
It should be noted that another 781 patients were discharged from the hospital, bringing the total number of patients recovered from the virus to 11,899. 25 patients were discharged from the hospital and 656 citizens were treated at home and then declared cured.
Unfortunately, five patients already hospitalized succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 418. The Minister reported an exemplary episode in which an entire family contracted the infection due to failure to take precautions to contain the spread of the virus.
"I received the news that one child was tested and found positive for the coronavirus, but refused to acknowledge the results - revealed Kagwe - his refusal to self-insulate caused his sister and his parents to be infected before our intervention. So now those people have lost his head of the family, two weeks after they lost and had to bury his mother. This story has to set an example to those who are still skeptical about the virus".
