Official Covid-19 virus deaths in Kenya have reached 40, after another four positive people, three in Nairobi and one in Mombasa, died in hospital in the last 24 hours.
Administrative Sergeant of the Ministry of Health Rashid Abdi Aman announced at today's press conference in Afya House that 22 citizens tested positive for the swab on the last day, bringing the total confirmed cases to 737. Of these 22, only one is not Kenyan, he is an Ugandan citizen.
The samples analyzed in the recent 24 hours are 1516 and at the same time the health team signed the approval to discharge 22 patients declared cured, which brings the total number of discharged patients to 281 and fixes the cases still active in the country to 416.
"The youngest case of positivity to the virus is 20 years old - said Abdi Aman - while the oldest is 80. The Government is continuing to collect samples from those who enter the country. In land border customs such as Namanga in Tanzania, any positives are not counted but returned to the sender. Of these, 25 positives have been found in the last 48 hours. 23 are Tanzanian, one Rwandan and one Ugandan.
