Another 17 cases of Covid-19 positive in the last 24 hours in Kenya, and no deaths.
Chief Administrative Secretary for Health Mercy Mwangangi, in her usual media appearance on Thursday, April 23, announced that the number of cases in the country has risen to 320, after 9 men and 8 women, all Kenyan citizens, among 668 swabbed yesterday, were found positive for the virus.
Of these, only 2 were already guests at government-designated quarantine facilities across the country, the others were examined after research by the team of health workers in charge of tracing and visiting contacts of positive patients.
For the third consecutive day, Mombasa is the city with the most cases detected, 12 cases, while the other five positive ones come from the capital Nairobi.
Six patients were declared cured and discharged from the country's hospitals after two final swabs, bringing the number of patients discharged to 89.
According to Mwangangi and his Ministry a great threat to the country is coming from people who do not respect the mandatory quarantine and in general the restrictive measures applied by the Government and five counties of Kenya.
"We congratulate the people who have taken seriously the habit of washing their hands - said Mwangangi - but we would also like the curfew and other prohibitions to be respected".
