Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta has just removed the national curfew that had been in place since last March 20, 2020.
He announced this live from Kirinyaga Stadium during the Heroes' Day celebrations.
"The curfew in the night hours is lifted with immediate effect," he said.
Details and updates are awaited, but tonight it can be assumed that it will be a big party in Kenya.
Kenyatta speech:  "The National Emergency Response Committee on Covid-19 and the National Security Council, have continued to monitor the evolving disease situation within our borders. Therefore, given the progress made in containing this disease, the Committee, along with the Council, recommended a review of existing containment measures.
Accordingly, the number of people gathering for in-person worship is revised upward from one-third to two-thirds of congregants, provided they adhere to all health protocols as outlined by the government. Likewise, by the authority vested in me as President, I ORDER and DIRECT that the nationwide dusk-to-dawn curfew, effective March 27, 2020, is hereby CANCELLED effective immediately."
