Announced by H.E. President Kenyatta

25-03-2020 by redazione

Curfew every day from seven in the evening until five in the morning.
Kenya has Lockdown dress rehearsals, while cases in the country rise to 28 and the first patient cured of Covid19 is recorded.
In a televised announcement, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that from Friday, March 27, the whole country will have to observe a curfew starting at 7 p.m. and ending at 5 a.m. the following morning, until a date to be set.
During that period no public or private transport will be allowed to travel throughout the country, with the exception of employees in the health, security and other logistical departments of the institutions.
The President has invited the population, as the first fundamental rule to follow, to keep their distance.
"Keeping the distance between us must become a social habit, until we have won this battle that we are ready to fight - said the President - we do it to protect the lives of Kenyan citizens and any other initiative will go in this direction.
Kenyatta also announced some measures to recover funds to invest in health care: the first ones concern reductions in salaries for government leaders. Cutting 80% of the salary for himself and his deputy William Ruto, 20% for ministers and 30% for deputies.
The V.A.T. in this period will fall from 16% to 14% and there will be other important reductions.
We will then publish the full ordinance of which the President's announcement live.
