In yesterday's press conference on June 30 in Afya House, the administrative secretary of Healthcare, Rashid Abdi Aman, announced that 176 people tested positive in the last 2,419 tests conducted in the previous 24 hours.
This brings the total to 6,366 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic out of 169,386 swabs tested.
There were 42 patients discharged yesterday, bringing the total to 4179.
Unfortunately, the number of victims also rises: 148 after the last four deaths.
Of the confirmed cases, 100 are male and 76 are female. The age is between 3 and 78.
Nairobi always has the sad record with 99 positive cases, Mombasa 20, Kiambu 17, Migori 13, Uasin Gishu 10, Kajiado 4, Busia 4, Kilifi 3, Machakos 2, Narok 1, Kakamega 1 and Kisumu 1.
The three cases in Kilifi County belong to the district of Kilifi North (2) and Magarini (1).
Abdi Aman said that the country currently has 28 test laboratories, but the government is working to increase their capacity.
"Covid-19 is not the last pandemic we will see, we need to make our health care system resilient and robust for the future," added the Administrative Secretary.
When asked by journalists why Kenya has not yet been included in the list of countries whose citizens have been allowed to travel to Europe, while Uganda has been included immediately, Abdi Aman candidly replied that he had heard about it at that precise moment from the journalist himself but added that the Ministry would follow foreign affairs officials to get to the bottom of the matter.
