Last Kilifi County Covid-19 report

Tests, cases, places from Health Department

07-06-2020 by redazione

Malindi and its entire district, almost three months after the first case of Covid-19 registered in Kilifi County, remains "Covid Free", i.e. it still does not have a single confirmed case of coronavirus, compared to the County which, in total, since March 19 to date has recorded 19 cases of Covid-19 positivity.
For Kabbalah lovers, the number 19 is already repeated 3 times, but today's data could already undergo changes after 24 hours from the release of the report we are referring to, drawn up by the Department of Health of Kilifi and dated Friday, June 5.
19 confirmed cases, then. All this happened due to only two epidemic "waves": the first one recorded six cases linked to the first positive patient, back from abroad.
Of that first epidemic, all six patients were cured and only one during the hospitalization period had medium to severe symptoms. However, he was discharged and declared cured on 29 April last.
The second outbreak concerns 13 individuals of whom 7 (asymptomatic) are detained in the quarantine centre of Rabai, in the hinterland of Kilifi and on the border with Mombasa County.
No serious cases requiring ventilation and intensive care are reported.
The beginning of this epidemic comes from Mombasa, where a Kenyan citizen living in Kilifi has been infected. Upon his return to his home county, after due diligence, he was placed in quarantine. In the search for his contacts, 6 other Kenyans living in Kilifi were found positive for the virus. Another 4 are detained in the quarantine center in Kaloleni and 1 in northern Kilifi.
Thirteen of them are male and six are female.
A total of 147 of the latter were detected, of which 92 were swabbed and all were found negative, as were the 388 health workers tested since the outbreak began, including 3 in recent days. A further 55 contacts will be tested in the last few days.
The total number of swabs carried out in Kilifi County is 1233, which resulted in 15 out of 19 positive cases. The other 4 come from swabs carried out in Mombasa and they are citizens living in Mwtapa, who have been transferred to the Sahajanad isolation centre in the town which, despite being in Kilifi County, is practically already a suburb of Mombasa.
Among the positives in Kilifi County, the lowest age is 25, the highest is 70.
The districts (Sub County) of Malindi, Magarini and Ganze have not had any cases of Coronavirus and can still be considered Covid-19 free.
