FLIGHTS

Excellent news for those wishing to travel to Kenya from next August.
The German national airline Lufthansa has activated a twice-weekly flight from Frankfurt to Mombasa starting from Saturday 7 August, with connections in several Italian cities (Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino with excellent connections, but also Bologna and the others that usually have the line on the German city) and with very good prices. For some August dates and 15 or 21 day returns, you can stay even on 500 euros, while there are also special rates for short holidays, with only hand luggage, starting from 190 euros one way.
On the airline's website, the flight is even said to have been operational since 24 July, but for now it is only available from 7 August. Lufthansa's intention is that the final destination of the flight should be Zanzibar.
Bookings can already be made for October and November, when there should definitely be no problem for Italians to travel to Kenya for pure tourism (touching iron and anything else that makes it easier).
Flights will leave from Europe on Saturdays and Thursdays, with an excellent connection from Malpensa: departure at 2.50 pm, connection to Frankfurt from 6.15 pm and arrival in Mombasa at 5.10 am local time.
The news of the direct Frankfurt-Mombasa route (we remind you that travel from Germany to Kenya and Tanzania for tourism is not forbidden but only discouraged) comes just a few days after Kenya Airways' turnaround regarding the start of the Milan-Rome-Nairobi route, which had been announced (with open ticket offices) for 3 July.
Tickets purchased by many Italian residents, diplomats, volunteers or homeowners were promptly refunded. The Kenyan national airline will probably wait for October or November and the total reopening of Europe to the country.
