Lufthansa increases flights to Kenya

One a day to Nairobi, four a week to Mombasa

22-03-2023 by Leni Frau

The German national airline Lufthansa is betting more and more on Kenya as a destination.
From 3 June 2023, in fact, it will increase its weekly flights from Frankfurt to Nairobi from five to seven and will also confirm the route to Mombasa for next summer, with four flights a week operated by the 'leisure' company Eurowings Discover. The total offer from Germany to Kenya will thus rise during the tourist season to 11 weekly flights.
"East Africa is undoubtedly one of the most important markets for us on the continent, and our booking figures reflect that the region is particularly popular with German and foreign holidaymakers," said Lufthansa Group's new General Manager East Africa, Kevin Markette. "Thanks to the extensive expansion of our route network on the continent, together with our group airlines, our customers can now reach their idyllic holiday or business destinations much more quickly and directly.
The additional flights will arrive from Frankfurt to Nairobi at 20:30 on a daily basis and the return flight will leave Nairobi at 22:25 (local time) every evening.
"Furthermore, by increasing Lufthansa frequencies between Nairobi and Frankfurt, we underline the importance of Kenya for the Lufthansa Group and our long-term commitment to the region. These positive developments can only be achieved through strong partnerships with Kenyan companies that
share a common goal and who have supported and trusted us during the past few difficult years," explained Markette.
