Malindi and Watamu, many tourists back home

Positive experiences posted on social networks

07-01-2020 by redazione

With the last day of vacation for the Italians (January 6, Epiphany holiday, which is not celebrated in Kenya) and the last Sunday of vacation for all the others, the very high season of Malindi and Watamu closed with excellent numbers.
In the last two days it is estimated that at least 40% of the guests of the two coastal resorts have left for their residence.
On the other hand, many long-term holidaymakers remain here, especially in Malindi, while Watamu can count on the weekly turnover of the resorts and the many smaller structures such as B&B and Residence. Towards the end of the week, however, other arrivals are expected to continue the summer season in Kenya, although clearly not with the "sold out" of the past two weeks.
It's the story of each year, however, that in this season has marked a positive fact: the enthusiastic comments of many visitors to the two destinations. From what we have collected on social networks, the "African sickness" still takes a lot of those who approach these magical places for the first time, while the restaurants and organized beaches are overflowing with benevolent reviews on tripadvisors and other similar commentary spaces, as well as on the same facebook pages of the locals.
Malindi in particular, even with the ancestral problems such as the seafront road to be rebuilt (but with the happy novelty of the road of Casuarina up to the Marine Park reasphalted and also the one from the post office to the curio market), has been evaluated very well, cleaner than in the past years and above all much safer.
Touching metals that are not very precious, there have not been reported episodes of violence against tourists or even robberies in villas, as happened regularly a few years ago.
Clearly, it is not all roses and flowers, we are always in Africa, and who wants order, discipline and perfection, as always, must wait for the summer to move to the Lake of Geneva, whilst we point out that in Norway, due to the climate changes, 19 degrees are reported.
Here it's a hot hangman, every now and then trucks don't come to pick up the garbage, you have to dribble some holes in the street, there are still beach boys... but if at the end everybody comes and comes back to us it means that compared to many places in the rest of the world it is always a paradise.
