"Semi-serious lessons in Kiswahili" is a twelve-part series that takes you on a journey through the most widely spoken language in Sub-Saharan Africa, including its history, customs, idioms and curiosities.
It does not pretend to be a grammatical lesson, but rather the pleasure of giving an introduction to the language in order to be able to approach it and, perhaps, want to go deeper into it later.
In the first episode, which is a bit of a preface, we talk about how Kiswahili was born, with the arrival of Arabs and Persians on the shores of the African Indian Ocean and their encounter with the Bantu. (ITALIAN LANGUAGE)
In the second episode, we come to the present day with a first approach to what this mother tongue represents, especially in the tourist spots of Kenya and Tanzania, frequented by us Italians.
In the third episode, we start with the formulas for greetings, the first real encounter of foreigners with the Kiswahili, as soon as they get off the plane. From the classic "Jambo" to the ritual of replies, without forgetting that everything is based on welcome, which for the people of East Africa is much more than a practice, it is a real philosophy of life.
The fourth episode: how to pronounce kiswahili words for an italian national.
The semi-serious lessons in Kiswahili continue, every Tuesday on Malindikenya.net and every week on our Youtube channel.
