Enjoy Malindi Clean Up on saturday 11th

Under the motto "Our town, our responsibility"

10-05-2024 by Leni Frau

Responsible citizens, the 'Malindi Stakeholders' and the civil society of the coastal town, will gather as they do every month this Saturday to clean their neighbourhoods and raise awareness of the importance of a continuous exercise that should become a habit, for a matter of health above all but also to bring Malindi back to the splendours of the early millennium, when it was consistently voted the pearl of beauty and environmental care of the whole of Kenya.
Staying well, revitalising tourism and building community: this is the commitment of the 'Malindi Green and Blue' movement, which has been supported for over five years by the Progress Welfare Malindi Association (PWAM), which you can also join to support its activities. The membership costs only Kes. 3000 per year and also allows you to be kept informed about community initiatives.

At each 'Malindi Clean Up', in addition to willing volunteers, PWAM seeks synergies with institutions that gradually join in the clean-up campaigns in the city: prisoners take part in their air day, police officers join in, teachers and pupils from public and public schools and others for whom protecting the environment and health matters.
This Saturday they will start at 8am from the police station at the corner of Kenyatta Road and Lamu Road, and proceed to the Naivas supermarket on Lamu Road. An exercise that it is hoped will involve residents and all businesses on that stretch of road, until 10am.
