INITIATIVES

Saturday 12th, Malindi "Nyumba kumi" Clean Up

Every resident is invited to make his part

11-02-2022 by Leni Frau

2022 has not diminished the commitment of responsible Malindi that every second Saturday of the month calls to action all residents and homeowners, including Italian ones, to give a good "ramazzata" to the tourist town and make it more welcoming in every season, not only for those who live there but also for those who will appreciate it during the vacations and weekends.
The Malindi Green And Blue movement, under the aegis of PWAM, since the restrictions of the pandemic, has continued its commitment of the "Malindi Clean Up", the cleaning initiatives of the town, every second Saturday of the month, but has had to change the methods: no longer a single action in one of the districts of Malindi, but many small groups that collect waste in an area of competence, often the one in front of their business or home.
The change in methodology proved to be a success and every month there are more than forty situations around Malindi, including individuals, groups of friends, associations, tourism-related activities, stores and offices.
Also this month PWAM asks all those who have benefited so far from the will and sense of responsibility of others, to participate even in their own small way, collecting waste and keeping their surroundings clean or having their staff do it.
The initiative starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, and by notifying the secretariat of PWAM (Polly, 0736621261) you will be included in the route that will allow trucks for the collection of waste from Kilifi County to pass through the marked area.
It is an initiative that should be adopted every month and those who approach it for the first time can also join the association that not only deals with Clean Up but strives to improve every day the appeal and services of Malindi.
