The Malindi Green And Blue movement and its clean ups, the monthly cleaning days, have done school: this morning Mambrui is also on the street to show that together we can make a tourist resort cleaner, healthier and more welcoming.
The local community, on the joint initiative of a group of Italian and Kenyan residents and with the important sponsorship of Karibuni Villas and Kola Beach, who have built two garbage bins that will be inaugurated tomorrow, organized the first Mambrui Clean Up, which had the support of the Kilifi County Environment Department, the institutions of the Sub County of Magarini and many local associations of citizens.
Until today, Mambrui did not have large garbage collectors and for this reason the trucks that collect the garbage and take it to the distant landfill of Malindi, the only one in the area, did not pick it up in public areas, but only from private individuals who applied for it. Now the population will have a place to take their waste and neither the people nor the county collection service will have any more excuses but they will have to cooperate to keep Mambrui clean and decent.
Appointment this morning from 8 am in the center of the village for the first (hopefully) of many other initiatives and not only in Mambrui or Malindi!
