The annual 'International Diplomatic Charity Bazaar', organised by the Spouses of Heads of Diplomatic Missions (SHOM) in Nairobi, saw Italy at the forefront of organising the event, which took place on Saturday 25 November at the capital's Villa Kempinski hotel.
The event, whose proceeds will be entirely donated to organisations helping children and the underprivileged, showcased a wide range of products from all over the world, with 32 countries participating and displaying their national products at their stalls, attended by some 800 visitors, not only from embassies.
Through the sale of delicacies from every corner of the world, original and traditional objects and other special features that best define and promote the individual nations, SHOM was able to raise a considerable amount of money in addition to the tickets sold in the raffle where one of the first prizes was donated by an Italian hotel, the Jacaranda Resort in Watamu.
During the pleasant day, which also represented a moment of unity and sharing between people and cultures working and moving in the multi-ethnic and active Kenyan metropolis, there was also space for the students of "Ghetto Classic", an initiative that gives street children from the slums of Nairobi the opportunity to approach music and dance.
