MADE IN ITALY

A plate of gnocchi for leopards and rhinos, with the metropolis in the background... never before had an institution, organisation or private entity thought of setting up a “show cooking” event in the Nairobi savannah, inside the National Park, the only wildlife reserve within a world capital.
The Italian Embassy in Kenya, together with the Kenya Tourist Board, the Kenyan government's tourism promotion agency, came up with the idea to celebrate Italian food and wine during the 2025 edition of Italian Cuisine Week in the World.
For such a special event in an extraordinary setting, at sunset in the middle of the wilderness with the Nairobi skyline in the background, the world's most “clicked” Italian culinary publishing brand, “Giallo Zafferano”, which has more than 50 million followers internationally, was called upon. The event was impeccably organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi and the ICE Office.
In addition to our tradition and culture of good food and drink, the star of the show was chef and actress Lulu Gargari, who performed a show cooking demonstration of a dish of tricolour gnocchi with tomato pesto and Parmesan cheese. In addition to Kenyan influencers and media personalities, the event was attended by students and chefs from the “Utalii College” hotel and catering institute, which supplies part of Kenya's tourism and hospitality industry, who followed the preparation stages and also the art of “on-site” catering by one of the country's leading Italian brands, Queen Deli.
The Italian Ambassador to Kenya, Vincenzo Del Monaco, emphasised the uniqueness of presenting our food and wine culture and tradition within the Park, in an incredible setting.
It was certainly a wonderful advertisement for Made in Italy in Kenya, also considering the tens of thousands of “likes” on Giallo Zafferano's social media pages.
