The cases of Covid-19 in the country continue to increase, particularly in the two most populous cities, and the Government has decided to establish the first full lockdown in two of them: Eastleigh in Nairobi and the Old Town, the historic old town of Mombasa, for the next fortnight.
At today's press conference, Wednesday, May 6, Kenyan Health Minister Muthai Kagwe announced that in the last 24 hours 47 people have tested positive for the virus, yet another negative record that sees the bar of contagion rise every day. Now there are 581 confirmed cases within the African country and the entire continent has exceeded 15,000.
In addition, unfortunately, the death in Kenya is resumed: after a few days without any death, two people have surrendered to the Coronavirus in government hospitals, adding to the 24 already deceased, while eight are the patients healed and discharged, bringing the total to 190 and the active cases to 365.
Of today's 47 cases, 32 come from swabs carried out in Mombasa, particularly in the old city, 11 from Nairobi, 2 from Busia and one from Kiambu County. Also worth mentioning is a case on the south coast, in Kwale County, where no positive cases have been recorded for over a month.
Precisely to try to contain the rampant increase in the two areas of the country where tests are carried out every day and new infected people are discovered, most of which are asymptomatic, the Ministry of Health has ordered the cessation of all movement in the two districts starting tonight.
