COVID-19

The percentage of Covid-19 infections on tested people in Kenya is increasing day by day. In a few weeks it has gone from 5 to 10% and in the last few days up to 20% registered yesterday, Saturday, July 11.
278 new cases of Covid-19 out of 1403 swabs examined in the last 24 hours.
Kenya's positives are thus close to 10,000 units, a figure defined for some time by the Ministry of Health as the first step to reach the peak and which, according to many, must have already been reached two months ago. Surely if many more swabs had been analysed than the 207,987 used to date, the forecasts would have been right.
The Head of the Department of Health Mercy Mwangangi also confirmed 99 cures, bringing the total number of patients who recovered from the virus and were discharged to 2832.
Three patients have died until yesterday, the total number of losses rises to 184.
Mercy Mwangangi was in Kwale to inspect the facilities of the county on the south coast, which has set up 340 beds in its hospitals in isolation.
Kwale County has recorded 139 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. Only 9 are still active and are receiving treatment at home. The figure is illustrative of what has long been happening in coastal destinations. But it also concerns areas that until a few days ago were not reachable and infected by people from Nairobi and Mombasa, where several outbreaks are still active.
The coast is also preparing to carry out swabs directly in its own facilities: the Governor of Kwale Sam Mvurya has announced that many tests will be carried out soon in the health center of Msambweni.
