From next August, once landed in Mombasa, reaching Malindi and Watamu will become more comfortable and fast.
The government recently confirmed that the first tangential ring connecting Moi International Airport to Mombasa-Malindi without going through the center of the chaotic and busy port city will be inaugurated in July.
This will allow taxis and transfers to get out of town quickly using a two-lane road with direct junctions on Mombasa-Nairobi and with the chance to exit directly just before the Nyali bridge.
The second phase of the project involves the completion of the tangential to the Changamwe district, allowing those who are directed not only in Kilifi County but also simply in the seaside resorts north of Mombasa to jump in the traffic of the entrance In Kenya's second largest city.
Another major project to streamline traffic and shorten travel times of the Mombasa-Malindi stretch concerns the urban upgrading of the Mtwapa inhabited town, now a real town with only one asphalted road and very narrow.
Mtwapa is in Kilifi County and the local government already has a plan to build the bus and matatu terminal, which would lighten the central stretch of road.
All of this, obviously, awaiting Malindi International Airport, which would solve any other issue that people from Europe want to go to the north coast of Kenya.
