Curtain on the promotion of Italian cuisine in Kenya

Closing the week with an event in Nairobi

25-11-2024 by redazione

The Week of Italian Cuisine in Kenya, part of the celebrations held every year in all the countries of the world where there is Italian diplomatic representation, with the contribution of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, ended with a fine event at La Villa restaurant in the capital Nairobi.
After the opening in Malindi, the initiative to promote imported Italian products in Watamu, the travelling photographic exhibition on the Tuk Tuks of Malindi, Watamu and Diani, and other appointments and initiatives, such as masterclasses and conferences, the closing of the Kenyan celebrations was entrusted to an evening of tastings at La Villa restaurant in the capital, in the Kitisuru area.
In addition to Ambassador Roberto Natali, the event was also attended by the Kenyan Deputy Foreign Minister, Korir Sing'oei, and the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Alex Wachira, as well as parliamentarians from the majority and opposition, artists, journalists and executives. With a good attendance of compatriots.
In the course of the evening, Natali presented the booklet ‘Write spaghetti, not spaggeti’, edited by Freddie del Curatolo, which calls for the correct spelling, especially in restaurant menus, of Italian food and recipes, and their original pronunciation. Also in order to recognise original products and to be able to be wary of the Italian sounding phenomenon, which not only circulates ‘Italian’ products of inferior quality and dubious origin, but even fuels the counterfeit market. The booklet will soon also be available, free of charge, in digital format.
