Three Italians on stage to explain, with the artifice of storytelling, acting and music, their relationship with Africa, over 50 years of travelling and staying. This is the show, in a single performance on Friday 3 January at Matteo's in Karen, ‘Karibuni, blood is red for everyone’. Taken from the book of the same name by Giancarlo Di Giacinto and brought to the stage by the author himself with Bruno Petrosino, who adapted and directed the play, and musician Andrea Causapruna, who performs the original music live.

From 6 p.m., with free admission, with the help of the musicality of Swahili and a sound experimentation ranging from traditional to electronic, ‘playing’ to better evoke the humanitarian and spiritual atmospheres of the place, we will enter a world of other times (or perhaps not so much) to tell its poetry, the traces of a different culture and thought, but which ancestrally belong to everyone as human beings or, even more so, as living beings. With a focus on the theme of freedom and peace between man and man, between man and Nature. Di Giacinto, the author of the book and narrator of himself on stage, brings his adventure back to the present, flanked by his alter-ego from the past, which doubles up and becomes music, dance, language, fabrics, photographs, loved ones, objects as rare and distant as the memories that embellish them, and which represents the testimony of something that can no longer be found, if not in the words, precisely, of Giancarlo. That is the ‘real’ Africa on stage: ‘his’ Africa.

‘My and Andrea's intention,' explains actor and director Bruno Petrosino, ’is to give Giancarlo's story a further dimension, to bring it to us: we who have never been to Africa, but who have made a great, immense treasure out of our encounter with Giancarlo and his story, and an engine to get to know and incorporate new physical, vocal, instrumental and philosophical languages, which could at the same time create a union with what we already are, without ever betraying it completely, but renewing it. This leads us to specify the real theme addressed in our journey: the encounter with Africa. We, as we are, and Africa'.
